Vogue Ready: The Ultimate packing list for Vogue Fashion Camp
Packing for Vogue Summer School wasn’t just about clothes, it was about strategy. I knew from the moment I got my acceptance letter that I wanted my outfits to feel polished, and very me. That’s why I started planning my outfits months in advance. While most people might start packing a week before a trip, I was already sketching out outfit ideas, researching inspiration, and making shopping lists.
My outfits mostly included a carefully curated mix of my favorite brands like Aritzia, Ralph Lauren, and Brandy Melville. Together, they gave me the mix of city chic and creativity I was seeking. I could mix and match depending on the vibe of each day. I mapped out everything: lectures, museum visits, exploring the best of soho shopping and the weekend free time. Accessories were just as important. I made sure every look had the right bag, shoes, and layering pieces.
Of course, all that planning added up to a serious packing situation. I used a hanging bag with each outfit on the same hanger to stay organized. And then there were the dorm supplies that I needed. Disinfectant wipes to clean down our dorm room and bathroom was a must. Extra toilet paper, a fan and flip flops for showering were a must and added to many bags on move in day. But as we waited on line to check in, I noticed that others had even more bags than I did. It felt like the start of something exciting, like I was stepping into the start of my fashion story. But my jitters quickly subsided when the skies opened up and the rain came pouring down on everyone in line. We laughed and all managed to get ourselves, and our luggage, into the lobby quickly.
Looking back, every ounce of effort was worth it. When I arrived in New York City, I didn’t have to stress about what to wear. I just opened my suitcase, pulled out my pre-planned look, and felt instantly ready for whatever Vogue Summer School had in store. My outfits weren’t just clothes, they were a reflection of the months of excitement, planning, and creativity that went into making the most of this adventure.

Inside the Vogue Summer Fashion School Experience
The first name in fashion is Vogue. It makes you think of glamorous runways, iconic magazine covers, and bustling editorial meetings and honestly, you wouldn’t be far off. A typical day at Vogue Summer School brings that all to life and shows how fashion media is as inspiring as it is intense. It blends creative energy with industry insight in the heart of the fashion world.
Each morning kicks off with our first class: a three hour lecture that sets the tone for the day. On this particular morning, we had the incredible opportunity to hear from a guest speaker from Vogue. Listening to someone who’s lived and breathed the magazine’s pages was beyond inspiring. They shared stories about the behind the scenes process of producing an issue, the evolving role of fashion media, and how creativity meets deadlines in such a fast paced environment. It wasn’t just a lecture it felt like getting a front row seat into Vogue’s inner circle.
After that, we broke for lunch to grab a bite, chat with classmates, and exchange ideas about our projects. Even lunch feels like a creative brainstorming session here.
The afternoon brought our second three hour class where we dove into hands on experiences. Some days, that meant taking trips to fashion museums, where we studied historic garments, photography exhibits, and cultural influences that shape today’s trends. Other days, we focused on our final project, creating our own issue of Vogue. From conceptualizing themes to selecting imagery and writing features, every decision brought us closer to seeing our vision in print.
By the end of the two weeks, I was both exhausted and exhilarated. Vogue Summer School isn’t just about learning, it’s about living the process of fashion journalism and creative direction. Every lecture, every museum visit, every brainstorm session builds skills but also increased understanding of what it means to bring fashion to life on the page.
